10/19/08 – Geocaching In The News

Sorry we missed lasts week’s news post. Between a combination of it being Thanksgiving here in Canada and the fact that we had a massive harddrive failure (oh yeah, it was the big one!) we missed the deadline. But here we are again…

It’s Geocaching but it’s not Geocaching here at San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge where they have set up a ‘multi-cache’ to educate visitors about the refuge. You can read more here.

TeacherMike and Bat1800 from the Geocachers of Northeastern Illinois are mentioned in this article about Science Saturdays, a monthly event offered in Chicago in conjunction with the city’s year long Science Chicago program.

Katherine Lanzer, a Geocaching newbie, tells of her trials and tribulations here looking for 12 caches created by the Great Bay Discovery Center in New Hampshire.

Snow Hill, Maryland is set to join the Geocaching and tourism band wagon with the introduction of a local cache. You can read more here.

The HooHaa GeoChallenge Race began this past Thursday with 8 contestants. This is a year long Travel Bug race with the winner being the one that traveled the most in the year. You can find out more here.
