11/26/08 – Geocaching In The NewsNov 26, 2008

Yep, we’re still here! :) Unfortunately, we have been so busy lately with everything but Geocaching! We had a harddrive failure several weeks ago and we were without a computer for several weeks. When we did get it back it took us a couple of weeks to get things installed (we still haven’t even installed GSAK!). With winter coming (and it’s here now!) we had to get the garden ready for it’s annual sleep, clear the summer fun furniture off the patio and try to get those things around the yard that we have been putting off since June. Then the snow came and of course there was the… LOL! Ahh, the fun never ends!

Anyway, we’ll try to catch up with several Geocaching related news happenings that have been going on:

Geocachers in the news include Zachary Platt in this article about caches hidden at the University of Maine. You can read more here.

Marcie Thiery, her husband Robin and their six year old son, as well as Ivan Grieve are featured in this article here.

Here’s an interesting tidbit from last month, seems police found a Geocaching ammo box on Highway 10 in Elk River, Minnesota. We’re not sure if they logged their find. :) Check it out here.

Our friend, Headhardhat, over at the ‘I’m Not Obsessed’ blog posted a great article last month on the UNC JayCee Burn Center Geocaching Event that we would like to bring to your attention in case you missed it like we did. Please take a moment to read about it here.

More kids are turned on to the fun and rewarding hobby of Geocaching in Grand Falls, Montana in this article here. 7th-grade student Justice Beckner said, “It was kind of fun and confusing at the same time.” So true, so true… ;)

Not only is caching fun and rewarding but good for your heart too! (But we already knew that! :)) The Heart and Stroke Foundation offers this informational article here.

And finally, an update on the HooHaa GeoChallenge Race, the Geocats Racer has a wide lead with 388.8 miles, EMC’s Cookie is in 2nd with 48.6 miles, HooHaa’s Quilt in 3rd with 2.3 miles, our GoGo Turtle is in 4th with 1.4 miles (2.2 kms!) and the others are all tied for 5th place. Go GoGo!

And that’s the way we saw this week in Geocaching! Seriously, these were a few interesting Geocaching related news articles that we came across this week that we wanted to share.

Oh, btw, you can always find more weekly Geocaching news here and here.

Keep on cachin’!
