The Top 50 Songs To Go Geocaching

When we’re heading out to go Geoacaching one of the first things we do is plug in the iPod to our car stereo and turn it up loud. We love ‘rockin’ to the oldies’ and find that there’s nothing better than good music to set the mood. They always said that ‘music soothes the savage breast’ but we have always believed, like Keith Richards, that ‘Rock and Roll is like a heart machine – its gotta go up and down’!

We put together an awesome music mix specifically for caching that we call our Top 50 Songs To Go Geocaching and we thought that we would share them with you.

We realize that most of the songs are over 30 years old but, hey, that’s when all the good ones were made. . Yes, we are dating ourselves but what can we say?, we are children of the ’70′s – when rock was hard and life was bliss!

Geocacher Finds Millions In Gold Coins

While geocaching Hesaj Ester stumbled upon a hidden treasure that led to a find of over two million dollars in old gold coins!

“I couldn’t believe my eyes!”, Ester said, “I have been geocaching for years and this is the first time that I found anything like this. It’s a strange day!”

Ester said that he got up early this morning and logged on to geocaching.com, a central website that players use to get information related to their game. He was immediately greeted with a cache, GC080401, that was just posted. It was very near his work so he left early, hoping to be the first person to find it. Apparently there are ‘bragging rights’ for the first player to find one of these hidden treasures. After a short search of a heavily wooded area he discovered a fairly large wooden box.

A Conspiracy? Who? Us? Nawwww!

When we started Geocaching almost a year ago we thought that we were joining a fraternity of peaceful, friendly people. However, we just became aware that this is not so!

We recently visited a fellow Geocacher’s blog, who shall remain nameless, and read that he is attempting to rally other Geocachers against us and fellow Geocacher Hick@Heart, in support of his apparent paranoid conspiracy theories. Already, he has enlisted the aid of PJ and Scott who are right now screaming cries of “Cache War” and “Revenge”.

Cached And Got The T-shirt

We have been asked several times about the rotating quotes on the bottom of the right-hand menu of Geocaching Online. We have to admit that we ‘stole’ these from various t-shirts that we have come across in our travels both online and off. We think that they are cool so we included them onsite.

You Know You’re Addicted

We woke up this morning with a feeling of grave agitation and high anxiety. Our hands were shaking, our eyes were watery and we had a driving desire to go outside. After a few minutes of searching our symptoms on the Internet we quickly found that we were suffering from “Obsessive Compulsive Cache Craving Syndrome” or OCCCS. There is no question, we are addicted to Geocaching!

You know that you are addicted to Geocaching when:

… a colleague brings out their Tupperware lunch box and you automatically reach for your pen to sign the log book.

… you can’t walk down a path without thinking, “Hmmm, that’ll be a good place for a cache!”.

… you type in your home co-ords and not the phone number.

… your idea of decorating the Christmas tree is to conceal all the presents at its foot, beneath a camo covering of tinsel.

… your idea of gift-giving is to hide the gifts in the garden with co-ords and a clue.

… you are watching TV and think “That’s a beautiful place, I wonder where the nearest cache is?’”

An Engaging Cache

Here’s a cute little story that was recently posted on Geocaching.com – apparently Geocacher ‘navaid’ proposed to his girlfriend in a unique way.

He and his girlfriend found a Cache and while she was logging the find he slipped an engagement ring in the swag and asked her to take her pick. She, of course, chose the diamond. Then he asked her to marry him and she said yes.

What really caught our eye on this one was a line he wrote in the Cache log:

“Thanks for the cache – left ring, took fiancée, signed log.”

This really cracked us up.

It will certainly be a great story to tell to their grandchildren!
